Off the Wall by name, off the wall by nature, the 8th Official Tängl Team is packing all star punch and glamor to boot. Starting out with former Wängl Tängl pugilist  and Team Off the Wall Captain, Iouri Podladtchikov, fresh off his Burton European Open and World Champion Halfpipe wins, I-Pod is quickly heading to the states to the US Open try and put the TTR World Snowboard Hapfpipe Tour Champion title under his belt before returning to the Vans Wängl Tängl to prove beyond doubt his snowboard skill are far greater than between two walls.

Joining him in Team Off the Wall, is the 2012 TTR Big Air Vice Champion, American Eric Willet, having US Open, Ante Up, Dew Tour Titles plus Gold at Europe X-Games and Silver at X-Games US under his belt not to mention 2nd placing at the O'Neill Evolution just after the new New Year. Eric has exploded on to the snowboard landscape over the past two season, considered by peers to be hands down one of the standouts world wide in the slopestyle format. You want it flat, corked, inverted or reversed, Eric has it all combined with a pop, stomp and style that makes the impossible look not only probable, but logical to boot. Show him a rail, and he will rail back - he simply kills every bump, hump or grind-able feature on the hill - a style which will thrust him into M.V.P territory, and is perfectly suited to the design of the multi-line Vans Penken Park set up.

Finishing up the team is one of Europe's most under rated rider, hailing from Les Deux Alps, France, a gentleman and a scholar, Sir Arthur Longo. Former winner of The Arctic Challenge Quarter Pipe, Pirate Movie Productions main protagonist and all round good guy, Arthur quietly treads where brave men dare not go. No stranger to Austria this season, Arthur spent a month on location in the Valley during filming with PMP during one of the biggest dumps and best conditions seen in Austria for over 20 years (Show du Longo - Click here). An all round rider, his pipe skills all but guarantee to see him destroy the all new design of the Red Bull End Section. Arthur is the quiet killer type, a man of few words and consummate style - he could see as a modern day D'Artagnan...

SUPER SIZING OF THE VANS PENKEN PARK STARTS TODAY

Deadline for Tängl Qualification Teams – Friday, 9th March.

The annual Super Sizing of the already impeccable VANS Penken Park started today to create the all new design for the 10th Anniversary VANS Wängl Tängl presented by G-Shock contest course for this years head-to-head, 3-man Team Battle. With the usual immense support from the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen, in conjunction with the impeccable shaping skills of Sven Toller and the Q-Parks crew, the Steve Gruber & Wolle Nyvelt designed course guarentees the perfect infrastructure for the Team Battle format ready for the Tängl Quali’s kicking off on Saturday, 17th of March at this years VANS Wängl Tängl.

The 10th Anniversary of the VANS Wängl Tängl is promising to be bigger than Ben Hur with the world’s elite hitting town to throw down in all new design Super Sized VANS Penken Park. The new Tängl Quali element, set to go down over the weekend of the 17th – 18th of March will see three teams make it into the Tängl Team head-to-head, knockout Battle starting on Tuesday the 20th of March, culminating in Quarters through to Super Finals on Wednesday the 21st of March.

The Qualified teams will have their work cut out for them going up against riders of the ilk of defending champion, Steve Gruber and his Team 99, three time consecutive TTR Tour Champions, Peetu Piironenen and his Team Triple Cock, current TTR Halfpipe World, BEO and high possibility of 2012 TTR Halfpipe Champion, Iouri Podladtchikov, who is joined by TTR Big Air Vice Champion, Erik Willet in team Off the Wall, Chris Kröll, who is Captaining the every dangerous The Djudes team, Herbie Thaler lookin for revenge in Team Absolut, Fillippo Kratter in Team The Italian Connection, Tyler Chorlton back from Japan to head up Team Since 1966, and the local rippers Team X-Double headed by Wolle Beer.

The all-new design this year has concentrated on creating a challenging, ultimate riding infrastructure designed to accommodate the 3-man team format and the introduction for the first time of the Tängl Qualification element. The multi-line and multi-option course guarantees options for all levels of riding, providing the line hunters everything from transfers to kickers, rails to stair sets, bonks to rhythm sections… It simply has it all.

Speed will be the competing team’s friend as they drop in towards the G-Shock first feature, which offers a cannon rail transfer and bin bonk on top of the main kicker, designed to set the team up for the next elements and separate the teams in terms of style and skills. Upon landing, teams will have only seconds to group up before choosing to attach the VANS element, or immediately opt to bring the Fiat Feature into play. With a cannon rail and transfer option brought into play, riders have further options in front of them – hitting the Mayrhofen Bergbahen stair set, or immediately turning their attention towards the motocross kicker or rhythm section on the VANS feature.

Those who are looking for the Hail Mary pass and bomb the main line direct from start to finish will be facing the main booter of the VANS feature with the motocross and rhythm sections as options before targeting their line in the always impressive Red Bull End Sections. With hips, inside and outside trannie sections, flat rail inside out side drop, transfer options, wall ride and bonk bin – the main issue Teams will face is which of the plethora of options in front of them they will take.

Tängl Quali Team applications close this Friday, the 9th of March with the Quali element going down over the weekend of the 17th - 18th of March where three teams will move on to face the Tängl Team Main Event head-to-head knock out battle starting on Tuesday the 20th of March, whit 16 teams cut to 8 in the Quarterfinals and Super Finals scheduled to wrap up the Snow Element at this years 10th Anniversary of the VANS Wängl Tängl by 13:00 on Wednesday the 21st of March.
